Read an IP registration result
Enter a public IPv4 or IPv6 address without a port or URL. VMAXCHECK requests RDAP registration information and displays the network range, registration events and public contacts supplied by the registry.
Try it step by step
- For a reproducible example, enter 8.8.8.8, a public Google DNS address.
- Compare the start and end of the registered range with the address you entered.
- Open the source link or Raw response to see which registry supplied the record.
What the result means
The named organization holds or administers the address block. It is not necessarily the person using an individual address, the website operator or the retail internet provider. Registration country describes the record and is not reliable geolocation.
Limits of this lookup
An empty contact field can mean the registry does not publish that information. A failed registry lookup is not evidence that the address is offline, unsafe or unassigned. Private addresses such as 192.168.1.1 do not have a public customer registration.
